The International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) has announced a long-term partnership with UAE-based cybersecurity firm Paratus. The partnership will aim to boost digital defences across AIPC’s global membership.
New comprehensive cybersecurity tools and intelligence will be added to AIPC’s network of convention centres. The association’s goal is to protect sensitive data, financial transactions and personal information belonging to organisers, exhibitors and attendees.
The world’s first collective cybersecurity network for the events sector
The recent announcement adds another milestone to a relationship that began in 2022. Since then, AIPC and Paratus have worked together to gather cyber intelligence from member centres and create the world’s first collective cybersecurity network for the events sector.
“As the events industry evolves, so do the threats facing our facilities. This collaboration allows us to stay ahead of the curve and provide peace of mind to our members,” said Sven Bossu, CEO of the AIPC. “They [Paratus] have been working diligently with our association for a number of years with different parts including intelligence, specialist detailed webinars and interactive session to allow maximum engagement around cyber security.”
Robert McClure, director of Paratus, added: “Cybersecurity is critical in today’s interconnected world, and we are proud to strengthen the digital defenses of the AIPC convention centres as well as to have created this collective network for the members. Together, we are building a more secure environment so that they the members can deliver successful events without the constant fear of cyber threats.”
The partnership reflects growing concerns across the events industry as centres adopt more digital systems and become increasingly vulnerable to data breaches and ransomware. AIPC’s Cyber Resources network is designed to offer independent centres a unified, proactive defence.
