The Showtime Events Centre, a venue that hosts boutique weddings in Melbourne, Australia, has been recognised as the country’s best. It took home the ‘Best Wedding Reception Venue’ award at the Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) awards on 19 June. The Showtime was selected from 3712 venues that were registered in the ABIA Awards Program, with over 100,000 newlyweds across Australia rating and reviewing their vendors on quality of product, quality of service, attitude of staff and value for money. The highest rated venues were then moved to a shortlist from which the Showtime was selected as overall winner. General manager Brad Dabbs said: “The Showtime team works incredibly hard to achieve and maintain our high standards, from initial contact right through until the end of the big day. It’s an amazing validation to be recognized for our passion and we will proudly boast that we are the best wedding reception venue in Australia!” The ABIA Awards were set up in 1996 to assist in setting standards in the free for all wedding market place. Other finalists at this year’s awards included the Grand Ballroom in South Australia, Dockside Group in NSW, and Cloudland Functions and Weddings in Queensland. Karinda Mathison, senior wedding producer for Showtime, said: “I’ve spent the last five years as a wedding producer and have always known that we were the leader in our field. We consistently set the high standard for ourselves, and to receive this acknowledgment is testament to that.”
