MIDDLE EAST – Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have introduced a multiple entry visa for businessmen, property investors and cruise passengers, following three years of negotiation.
The new visa plan removes some of the restrictions of the previous visa process, which was seen as imposing undue financial burden as well as documentation procedures and red tape for 32 nationalities that did not automatically receive visas on arrival.
While the move is conceived to enhance the growth of cruise tourism at Mina Rashid in Dubai, it will also allow multiple entry visit visas to the UAE for the first time.
Dubai serves as a home port for five of the world’s leading cruise lines, and in 2011 catered for 396,500 cruise tourists.
