CMW editor Paul Colston got to see first-hand, courtesy of Kazakh Tourism and Air Astana, the strides being made to make Kazakhstan a must-see meeting and incentives destination. With plenty of local traditions to absorb, including falconry, horse acrobatics, local cuisine and meeting in a traditional yurt, the country has much to offer the well-seasoned traveller. And, while Chimbulak, near Almaty, offers a ski resort and 30-minute ski lift rides, the capital Astana is a glitzy, modern city, with major exhibition and congress centres and several chain hotels for delegates to choose from. As well as some ultra-high-tech museums, galleries and skyscrapers.
