Club Med, French travel operator specialising in all-inclusive holidays, has launched its inaugural Meetings and Events Sustainability Report. Club Med’s MICE sector has grown “by 30% since 2019”, according to general manager for Club Med Pacific Michelle Davies.
This success prompted the travel company to commission a survey with 200 opinion leaders from a range of different businesses. Among Club Med’s main interests was the desire to understand the key drivers of implementing sustainable initiatives, as well as the challenges involved. The findings feature industry data, market trends and advice from experts.
Some key takeaways include: 90% of those surveyed said that implementing sustainable initiatives when planning events was important The minimisation of food waste and single use plastics were the top 2 priorities when planning a sustainable event with 65% opting for these activities One in three of those surveyed shared that aligning with corporate values and missions were their biggest driver for implementing sustainable initiatives 35% said their company did not have a CSR Policy to follow when organising an event 15% were unsure if their company has a CSR Policy in place
General manager Michelle Davies said: “We are seeing the desire for sustainable practices, in particular ‘give-back’ sessions’ rise in popularity … our Meetings and Events Sustainability Report is here to provide our valued partners and prospectus clients with valuable insights, data and guidance”.
The introduction of the Club Med Meetings and Events Sustainability Report comes after Club Med won ‘Most Popular Accommodation Group’ at the National Travel Industry Awards. To access the report, visit https://form.jotform.com/242398695985885
