Danish organisers of the UN’s big climate change conference in Copenhagen next month are hoping its sustainable blueprint, will provide a model for other big, green international conferences.
A Danish consortium is to document the COP15 conference’s green practices and prepare a White Paper, the Copenhagen Sustainable Meetings Protocol which they hope will cement Copenhagen as a leading meetings destination.
With COP15, the consortium will document how to organise sustainable meetings and conferences and present the results to the UN. The idea is for future climate conferences and international meetings be organised according to the sustainable framework set down in Copenhagen.
The consortium is made up of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, VisitDenmark, the City of Copenhagen, Wonderful Copenhagen Convention and Visitors bureau. Pharmaceutical corporation Novo Nordisk and MCI Group are also on board.
The consortium says its White Paper is to be evaluated by an impartial third party before being put to the UN.
