AUSTRALASIA – The Darwin Convention Centre has has achieved a Gold Level International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) Quality Standard Certification.

The AIPC Quality Standard programme is an industry-specific certification for confirming and documenting a centre’s accomplishments in key areas of performance.

The centre, in Australia’s Northern Territory, joins a group of only 18 AIPC convention facilities to have successfully achieved this certification to date including the Vancouver Convention Centre recently.

AIPC President Edgar Hirt congratulated the centre on its achievement. “It demonstrates to owners, colleagues and clients that the centre is addressing international standards of performance in their management procedures,” he said.

In the last 18 months the centre has been recognised with five industry awards including the 2010 and 2011 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards, and at the 2011 AIPC Innovation Award where Darwin was a finalist.

Last year, the centre also gained the ISO 9001 accreditation for quality management systems from Lloyds Register Quality Assurance.
