Destinations International, the membership association for destination organisations and convention and visitor bureaus, has announced Maine Tourism Association as the association’s 800th member organisation.

The announcement came at Destination International’s 2026 Annual Convention in Portland, Oregon.

Tony Cameron, CEO of the Maine Tourism Association, said: “Membership will connect our team and Maine’s tourism industry with a global community of destination professionals, new ideas and valuable resources.”

The three-day 2026 Annual Convention closes 23 July at the Oregon Convention Center, and brought together 2,000 destination leaders and industry partners from around the world.

Hosted in partnership with Travel Portland, the convention was organised around the theme ‘Solutions for Today. Strategies for Tomorrow’.

Keynote speakers included Jeremy Gutsche, New York Times bestselling author and founder of TrendHunter.com, talking about AI, disruption and the future of leadership, and Kathy Varol, former head of global purpose at Adidas, sharing insights on purpose-driven leadership, organisational impact and brand strategy. New Learner Journeys allowed attendees to customise their convention experience across five areas: Solutions, Strategies, Skills, Scope and Leadership & Culture.
