The eighth edition of the European Association Summit (EAS) is being held 10-11 March in the Square – Brussels Meetings Centre and has attracted nearly 200 international association experts to exchange experiences in the fields of strategy, communication, events and international association management. This year’s conference has discussion sessions on internal organisation, leadership and communication management, with most delegates came from associations and some others from the association services sector. The speakers are drawn this year from a wide range of sectors, from the world of brewing through to the digital technology sector. Law has also been a key theme throughout with participants tapping into legal expertise in a number of areas, including around boards of directors, competition rules and regulations on international associations. Speaking at the start of the summit, Elisabeth Van Ingelgem, Director of the EAS Summit joint organiser visit.brussels Convention & Association Bureau, said: “International associations are a real source of inspiration. They create strong links between all sectors of society. Their expertise in organisation, crisis management or even in the field of medicine is a real added value. All this knowledge is present in Brussels and enables us to meet the challenges of tomorrow.” The large concentration of associations (more than 2,300 international associations were founded on its territory) makes Brussels a fertile breeding ground for knowledge and the exchange of ideas. The EAS is organised by the visit.brussels Association Bureau, in close collaboration with major partners in the sector: ESAE (European Society of Association Executives), FAIB (Federation of European & International Associations Based in Belgium), UIA (Union of International Associations) and GAHP (Global Association Hubs Partnership), along with Solvay Brussels School – Economics & Management, AMCI (Association Management Companies Institute) and ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association).
