The EC Group has announced Chris Macdonald as group CEO. The group said the newly created role reflected a period of exceptional growth for the group and it also follows the recent acquisition of global brand experience agency Ivory Worldwide.
Macdonald has over 30 years’ experience working in the creative industries, with senior leadership roles in both the UK and the US. Most recently, he held the role of global CEO for advertising network McCann in New York, before returning to the UK to work as an investor and non-executive director.
Mark Beaver, founder of The EC Group, said: “Chris has been a board advisor for the past 18 months and has made a really positive impact on the business during a period of substantial growth. It became clear that Chris could play a more significant role inside the company and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us as our group CEO.”
Macdonald added: “It’s an exciting time for brands and businesses to invest more in experiences and events which are easily measurable, uniquely ownable and create lasting impact. I believe The EC Group can be at the forefront of this movement.”
The group has also promoted Event Concept MD Adam Stanley to group managing director, in recognition of his leadership during the company’s period of exceptional growth.
Nick Charlton is the new group CFO, most recently global SVP, commercial operations at BBC Studios.
