Former UBM group director Simon Mills is to join ExCeL London in the UK as executive director. He will have commercial responsibility for Exhibitions, Media and Food & Beverage.
Mills has spent the past 17 years at global event and conference organiser UBM. His most recent role was group director of the Brand, Design and Protection Portfolio, overseeing a portfolio of 17 products.
During that time, Mills ran several market leading events at ExCeL, including the Protection & Management Series (IFSEC, Facilities Show, SHE and Firex) and Black Hat.
Jeremy Rees, acting CEO, ExCeL London, said of Mills joining ExCeL: “Having worked with him over a number of years, I know he will be a fantastic addition to our team. His extensive industry experience and insight will help us to attract more world leading events to London and ExCeL. He will also play a key role in helping us to deliver our vision for guest experience, with a particular focus on food and media. Mills, who takes up his role on 2 July, added: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at ExCeL… Having run several market leading events at ExCeL myself, I am looking forward to bringing my organiser knowledge to help further cement that key relationship between organiser and venue.”
