EUROPE – The Florence Convention Bureau (FCB) has won its bid to host the annual Convention of WorldVentures, set to attract 5,000 delegates to the Italian city.
WorldVentures is scheduled to be held at the Nelson Mandela Forum, the largest sports arena in Florence, from 15 to 17 November 2013. The FCB estimates a likely revenue of €2.8m (US$3.7m) and economic impact of €1.2m with about 10,000 overnight stays.
WorldVentures is an American multi-level marketing company specialising in travel and tourism. It is present in 23 countries and has over 100,000 independent representatives worldwide.
The FCB received the request last January by Mike Walker Creative, an American agency based in Texas, and worked several months on the bidding process, organising site inspections and assisting the client in the selection of the location, hotels allotment and in the definition of the services needed.
Carlotta Ferrari, Director of FCB, says: “Having brought the meeting to Florence was a victory. Hosting an event of 5,000 people in a period of low season as November will be a great stimulus to the MICE sector and to the local economy”.
