AUSTRALASIA – Ken Freer has joined the national tourism body, Tourism Fiji, as Director of Global marketing. He will be based in Fiji.
Freer has more than 15 years marketing and management experience, working in Auckland, Sydney, Los Angeles and London. He comes to Tourism Fiji from London where he was working for Tourism New Zealand as Regional Marketing Communications Manager, with responsibilities for North America, the UK and Europe.
Freer also owned a marketing agency in Auckland for almost 10 years with clients that included American Express, Citroen, Regency Duty Free and Jaguar and ran online and direct marketing for Westpac New Zealand for three years, before being transferred to a similar role with Westpac in Sydney.
Tourism Fiji CEO, Rick Hamilton, said the appointment of Freer, and other recently-announced marketing appointments, signalled the determination of Fiji to grow its tourism globally and is a reflection of the importance of tourism to Fiji.
Earlier this year, Tourism Fiji began rolling out a rebranding and repositioning of Tourism Fiji as part of a new strategy that includes and builds upon the establishment last year of a new brand identity, new global marketing and social media partners and a new destination website.
