Geneva Tourism & Conventions Foundation has published a new guide to help event organisers plan more sustainable meetings in the city. The Responsible Events Guide is the first in a series of resources aimed at making sustainable event planning easier, more accessible and more locally informed. It offers practical advice and local contacts – as well as helping organisers connect with Geneva’s sustainability ecosystem.
“Our aim is to serve as a bridge, connecting planners with the local sustainability ecosystem,” said Adrien Genier, director of the Geneva Tourism & Conventions Foundation.
The guide covers nine key topics: destination, food, waste, venues and hotels, transport, diversity and inclusion, impact and legacy, governance and communication. Each chapter includes a topic overview, a “Did you know?” facts section, recommended suppliers and a checklist of actions.
“Sustainability often falls lower on the priority list,” said Laura Alonso Huarte, sustainability manager at Geneva Tourism. “With this resource, we want to make sustainable event management more approachable.”
Geneva hosts many international events. But organisers often struggle to find relevant suppliers and local initiatives. The guide aims to solve that by consolidating information in one place and offering guidance tailored to Geneva.
The Responsible Events Guide is available online via Geneva Tourism & Conventions website.
