Glenn Hansen (pictured below), formerly of BPA Worldwide, has announced that he is using his experience and knowledge of ESG to launch Reduce 2, an independent third-party assurance provider. Named after the international drive to limit the global temperature increase to less than two degrees, Reduce 2 is a sustainability assurance practice focused on Standards Writing, Carbon Footprint Calculating, and certifying companies and events to industry and international standards and Assuring companies’ ESG reporting. Reduce 2 will collaborate closely with companies across industries ranging from manufacturing and agriculture to technology and finance to assess operations, supply chains, and overall sustainability strategies. This will determine compliance with international standards and best practices. The wide range of criteria evaluated will include energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, carbon footprint, labour conditions, community engagement, and ethical sourcing. Reduce 2 has a comprehensive certification process involving thorough audits, data analysis, and stakeholder consultations to ensure accurate and reliable assessments. The resulting report will provide recommendations for continuous improvement such that companies and their consultants can set a course toward achieving net zero carbon emissions in the desired timeframe. On the launch Hansen comments, “In my time certifying companies and events, I have seen that sustainability certification enhances brand reputation, and demonstrates credibility to investors, partners, clients and employees.” Hansen currently sits on the UFI Sustainability and Audit Committees and serves on task forces to refresh ISO standards for sustainability and event measurement. He wrote the Waste Management Agreement for Enterprise Singapore, assisted in writing the sustainability standards for Dubai’s hospitality industry, and sits with the working group to reduce the carbon footprint of events as part of the Net Zero Carbon initiative.
