AUSTRALASIA – Gold Coast Tourism (GCT) has appointed Anna Case as Director of Business Events.
In her new role, Case will be responsible for guiding the organisations strategy to promote the Gold Coast as a business events destination.
“Anna previously worked with Tourism Australia, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Encore Business Tourism and SquareOne Events,” says GCT CEO Martin Winter.
“This role assumes the leadership of the Gold Coast Convention Bureau (GCCB), a subsidiary business unit within GCT’s structure. GCCB has primary responsibility of securing conferences, congresses, incentives and corporate meetings to the Gold Coast, which creates new commercial opportunities for our members and stakeholders,” Winter adds.
Having previously run her own Gold Coast business and as part of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games winning bid team, Case hopes to now raise the profile of the city.
“The Gold Coast provides the ultimate canvas for business events and as a maturing city, we need to capitalise on opportunities within the corporate and incentives sector, in both domestic and international markets,” says Case. “We are approaching an exciting time in the tourism and business events sector on the Gold Coast as we work towards the 2018 Commonwealth Games, other major events, improved infrastructure, attractions and accommodation.”
The Gold Coast attracts almost 50 per cent more delegates than anywhere in Queensland, and welcomes 1,200 domestic and international business events worth an estimated AU$273m (US$285m) each year, according to the Gold Coast Business Events Survey FY11.
