Here’s how three BestCities Global Alliance partners are boosting their destination’s accessibility. Vancouver, Melbourne and Singapore have each prioritised accessibility in the events strategy. How are they doing it?
Vancouver – Invictus Games 2025 Hosting 11 sports at Invictus Games (pictured) for those with disabilities, including six winter events (a first for the Games). BC Place and Invictus Village will offer hearing-assisting devices and barrier-free design.

Melbourne – Lions and Rotary Conventions Rotary International Convention 2023 and Lions International Convention 2024 welcomed delegates from 120+ countries with fully accessible venues, dietary accommodations, closed captioning and community initiatives like free health screenings. Women Deliver 2026 will shift focus to indigenous and Pacific Islander communities.
Singapore – accessible design Ludus Lab creates immersive, inclusive experiences tailored for travellers with disabilities, seniors and MICE delegates. Resources like accessible-singapore.com and the Enabling Guide gives visitors accessibility resources, especially around hotel options and navigating the city independently.
What’s more, BestCities Global Alliance has launched a new initiative to boost inclusion across the international events sector. The BestCities Global Forum Alumni Program allows past association delegates (who may not be able to attend in person) to stay involved in global business events.
The move is designed to widen participation and bring more voices into industry conversations. For more info, visit www.bestcities.net
