Hungary’s largest event management company, HUNGEXPO is set to springboard into the post pandemic world with a mix of vast event organising experience and the completion of a wide- ranging set of upgrades to its venue in Budapest.
Besides organising a series of its own exhibitions and trade shows, the other pillar HUNGEXPO’s business is hosting domestic and international events at the Budapest Congress and Exhibition Centre, the latest addition of its kind in Central Europe.
The HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Centre has undergone a two-year development project worth €170m (US$179m), that was completed in September 2021.
The project included the addition of two new exhibition halls, the construction of a brand new congress centre and refurbishments to all existing event spaces.
The 21st century designed congress centre consists of three-levels. The facility has a state-of-the-art auditorium with a 2,000-person capacity, 36 flexibly sized meetings rooms and a 2,000sqm rooftop terrace plus a 2,500 sqm expo hall. All spaces are multifunctional with lots of partition walls offering very flexible size rooms from 50-2000 pax.
The two new exhibitions halls (halls E and H) are both column free facilities with 7,300sqm and 5,650sqm floor space, respectively, with an eight-metre internal height.
Aligning the project’s completion with the reducing Covid-19 related restrictions across Europe in 2022 has enabled HUNGEXPO to minimise the impact of the pandemic and be ready to provide services to event organisers in the rapidly growing market.
The venue is already one of the leading spaces to hold international congresses and exhibitions in Central Europe. The GL Events owned site has 75,000sqm of flexible and diverse event space in total, and is located in the heart of the capital; only a 15-minute drive from the city centre and a 20-minute commute from the international airport. After these developments, the venue now has the capacity to host events with between 500- 15,000 attendees.

The HUNGEXPO team has a 55-year history of hosting events of all different shapes and sizes. The team has a vast experience in managing larges events, with a reputation of meticulous planning and consultation with clients.
Through this experience, HUNGEXPO has strong relationships with regional, tested and reliable suppliers that provide events with high class catering and furnishing.
The team has wide ranging capacity to organise conferences, association congresses, exhibitions, corporate galas, sports events, and product launches. In the past years HUNGEXPO has managed large scale international events such as the annual general assembly of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the ERA-EDTA congress with 9,000 attendees and the European final of the international chef competition, the Bocuse d’Or.
