EUROPE – The third day of the 50th ICCA Congress opened with a plenary session, with presentations for ICCA Best Marketing Award 2011.

The finalists were China Star, PCO; Poland Convention Bureau and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (combined).

Since it was launched in 1997, the award has recognised high levels of creativity and business acumen in a competitive marketplace.

China Star presented its case as a new breed of professional conference organiser in China and used a case study of its 29th ISME world conference on music eduction to show how the Chinese meetings industry is evolving fast.

Krzysztof Celuch of the Polish Convention Bureau explained how his team had created a totally new look and approach, the rebranding of a meetings country with the strapline: ‘Move your imagination’.

The third finalists, from Scotland, showed how the Glasgow Model had broken new ground in shared risk/reward between all stakeholders in the World Parkinson Congress 2010.

The ultimate winner will be announced 27 October at the closing ceremony and will be voted 50:50 between an ICCA judging panel and delegates.
