EUROPE – The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) is becoming less Eurocentric, according to new membership figures revealed.

For the first time ever, the total percentage of European members in ICCA has fallen below the 60 per cent mark and half of new members now come from outside the region.

The latest statistics show ICCA has 975 members, of which 41 per cent are non-European. There are 87 countries represented in the ICCA family.

North America, South East Asia and the Middle East are key growth areas identified.

Miranda Ioannou, from the ICCA Meetings Advisory Group, said: “We are going to see a lot more activity from the regional chapters so we are closer to our membership. If you have a problem, it is easier to access your chapter than go to HQ.”
