The International Congress and Convention Association has opened registration for its ‘The Future of Healthcare Meetings 2026’ event in Athens. The conference will run 20–22 September and gather international association leaders, destinations, venues, and industry experts to explore how healthcare meetings can deliver stronger outcomes for communities, science, and global collaboration.

The key focus in Athens will be on creating value at destination level for associations and other key stakeholders. The big question under discussion will be how associations can derive the maximum benefit at a micro-level through collaboration and engagement with the venue, convention bureau, hotels and other partners, engaging with patient organisations, local healthcare ecosystems, and scientific institutions to generate lasting benefits.

ICCA research shows that meetings are a key revenue stream for almost all associations. The Future of Healthcare Meetings will frame this in the context of healthcare meetings and will explore how partnerships can reduce costs and increase revenue.

The association has also announced that submissions are officially open for the ICCA Best Marketing Award (BMA) 2026.

This year’s theme ‘Imagination and Impact: Where Creativity Meets Strategy” highlights the vital connection between bold ideas and real-world results at a time when associations face increasing pressure to diversify revenue, ensure relevance, and build financial resilience. The ICCA Best Marketing Award is open to ICCA members from all regions and sectors.

ICCA CEO Dr Senthil Gopinath emphasised the award’s role in driving excellence across the sector: “Marketing today is about storytelling, strategy, data, and delivering meaningful impact. The Best Marketing Award celebrates those who dare to imagine differently and deliver results that strengthen our global community.”
