CANADA – Vancouver-based association management company International Conference Services will assume general management operations on behalf of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE). The deal is effective 1 October, 2010.

ICS won the deal following two formal presentations to the ISDE Executive. It will assist ISDE with the planning and execution of its 14th and 15th World Congresess, to be held in 2014 and 2016 respectively.

Initial goals of the partnership include revisiting the branding and membership strategy for ISDE. The society’s President Mark Ferguson expects membership to grow and financial stability, “enabling the ISDE to expand its educational and research opportunities”.

“A new benefit for physicians in training is a substantially reduced entry-level membership fee that includes electronic access to Diseases of the Esophagus, the premier journal devoted to esophageal disorders,” he added.

ICS President Mathias Posch said he was proud to be working with a society that has “excellent potential for growth”.
