WORLDInforma has said its events business has delivered 3.5 per cent organic growth so far in 2014, with a strong performance from its large event portfolio.

In an interim management statement on the group from 31 December 2013 to 30 April 2014, the firm said its events business has done well across a range of sectors, including healthcare show Arab Health, industrial exhibition Middle East Electricity and beauty show Anti-Aging World Congress.

The firm admitted however that structural challenges in the print industry led to a significantly smaller IPEX exhibition than its previous edition in 2010.

The statement added that a number of its large event brands are scheduled to take place later in the year compared to 2013, which will impact the pattern of quarterly organic growth.

“Across the group, our performance to date reflects a continuation of many of the trends we highlighted at the time of the full year results and the board’s expectations for 2014 remain unchanged,” said group chief executive Stephen Carter.

In all, the group delivered organic revenue growth of 0.6 per cent across the first four months of 2014, in line with the board’s expectations.

Some conference markets, particularly Continental Europe and Russia, continue to dilute the overall growth profile of Informa’s global events but the firm said it remains confident on the performance of the division in 2014.
