InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) officially opened its new InterContinental London – The O2 on the Greenwich Peninsula, in the UK capital, 26 January. Adjacent to The O2, the new-build, 453-room hotel offers views of the River Thames, Canary Wharf and iconic London landmarks. The hotel provides meetings organisers with a new, quality large-scale venue in the capital. The hotel’s conference centre boasts a 3,100sqm pillar-free ballroom with an additional 19 meeting rooms, organiser’s office and a 1,600sqm pre-function space. Angela Brav, chief executive, Europe at IHG says: “We are enormously proud to welcome InterContinental London – The O2 to the brand family. This opening continues the strong momentum we have behind the InterContinental brand, having recently opened InterContinental Estoril and InterContinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hotel.” Hasham Soliman, general manager of the hotel, said: “We are thrilled to have opened the doors to our eagerly awaited luxury hotel in one of the capital’s most vibrant new entertainment and events districts. At InterContinental London – The O2, we have truly exceptional facilities for business and leisure travellers.” InterContinental London – The O2 will operate under a franchise agreement with Meridian Hotel Operations Limited and will be managed by a division of the Arora Group.
