The seventh edition of the Meet in Malaysia @ Malaysia Business Events Week (MIM @ MBEW) is set to take place from 29 August – 1 September 2022 at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur. According to MIM @ MBEW, 700 delegates are expected to attend the event, including international speakers, buyers, association executives, industry partners, stakeholders, and media. Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of MyCEB, explained that the event’s theme, ‘Reshaping Business Events’, will cover diversity, equity and inclusion, and sustainability – including the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals (UNSDGs). “I am pleased to share that we will be witnessing a signing of Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between Malaysia and Indonesia Industry Stakeholders,” Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud commented. The primary event of the week will be a conference officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Hajah Nancy binti Shukri, minister of tourism, arts and culture. Malaysia Business Events Week will also feature a B2B exhibition called BE Xchange, sustainability workshops, and a business strategy roundtable. According to MIM @ MBEW, sustainability is a crucial focus for the event. To work towards this, they plan to minimise food waste, avoid single-use plastics, and reduce their carbon footprint by working with non-governmental organisations. The event’s speaker line-up plans to represent all key international business events associations, such as:

  • International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
  • International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO).
  • International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE).
  • Malaysian Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).
  • Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

In addition to addressing the MICE industry’s current key topics, the event also plans to promote Malaysia as a global business events destination. “This strategic partnership aims to build a closer relationship with our Asian counterparts and explore new opportunities to boost the region’s business events market,” Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud added.
