Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), is marking its 20th anniversary with bold plans for 2025. Over the past two decades, the Centre has hosted 21,825 events, welcomed 29,668,466 delegates, and contributed RM12.3 bn in economic impact.
The Centre has already confirmed 60 international, regional, and domestic conventions and exhibitions, as well as over 70 corporate meetings and events, expecting to attract more than 180,000 delegates. This marks the beginning of the venue’s robust schedule, with further significant additions anticipated throughout the year.
John Burke, general manager of the Centre, said: “The strong partnerships we have built, including with the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), are central to our success and we are confident that these will advance our efforts further enhancing Kuala Lumpur’s prominence on the international stage.”
The 2025 calendar highlights include the International Petroleum Technology Conference (18–20 February), returning to Malaysia after 11 years, and the inaugural Malaysian hosting of the International Vulvovaginal Disease Update (25–26 April). From 12–19 July, the IUPAC General Assembly & World Chemistry Congress will showcase scientific innovation and sustainable chemistry. Closing the year, the ISSA General Assembly and World Social Security Forum will debut in Malaysia from 6–10 October.
Sustainability remains central to the Centre’s growth, with energy-efficient upgrades, sustainable banquet options, and versatile spaces meeting evolving industry standards. Key enhancements include advanced LED screens, such as the new 20.5m x 1m panoramic screen in the Plenary Hall.
Environmental stewardship continues to guide the Centre’s operations, with a focus on protecting natural resources and fostering long-term societal impact through community and educational programmes. Aligned with ESG principles, the Centre is building a resilient supply chain through strengthened partnerships with clients and vendors. Under its Net Zero Carbon Emissions (NZCE) pledge, the Centre is also working towards achieving a 25% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
Burke added: “The enhancements we have made, and our strong lineup of events reflect our commitment to delivering world-class experiences.”
