Multi-award winning event planner and producer, Melva LaJoy Legrand (pictured), has announced a busy autumn 2023 schedule of events for her DC-based event planning firm LaJoy Plans. Including 10 separate celebrations across seven cities from 24 August until 1 December, Melva and her team of event specialists will be creating bespoke experiences for initiatives supporting the energy and climate crisis, building culture, LGBTQ+ leadership, prison reform, early childhood education and Latino education and advocacy. Having already produced 15 events so far this year, and landing LaJoy Plans in 38 states across the US, Melva is being seen as a trailblazer in the events industry and says she is set to end the year with over 40 separate events produced in 2023. She has received the 2022 BizBash Top Event Industry Innovator Award and the 2022 Events Industry Council’s Global Social Impact Award. “It has been such an honour to see the events industry thrive post-Covid, and really enter into this new renaissance era. When the pandemic first hit, I lost almost 98% of my business and had to decide to fight for it and wait for the industry to make its return, despite earning nothing. In doing so, our services have expanded, our client relationships have never been stronger, and I am still in awe of our dynamic industry colleagues,” says Melva LaJoy. Melva has also been very active with public speaking work and is slated to speak at the upcoming 2023 IMEX America in Las Vegas, NV 16-18 October. Melva is an advocate for DEI implementation and will share her experiences of using her platform to increase small businesses access to resources, networking and brand visibility, as well as gender equity.
