USA – Venue management company SMG has appointed Traycee Mayer as general manager of the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, replacing the long-serving GM David Gordon, who retired at the end of 2010.

Gordon had been in the position since 1989 and joined SMG in 1981. Mayer joined SMG after serving as GM of the Holiday Inn at the Long Beach Airport.

SMG also operates San Francisco’s Mascone Center and the Ontario Convention Center (OCC) in Canada, as well as 250 venues globally.

The Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is the 49th largest convention center in the US, according to the 2010 directory of the World’s Top Convention Centers, compiled by EW’s US partner Trade Show Executive.
