AUSTRALIA – Nearly a year since its grand opening, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has added another award to its mantel.
At the Australian Interior Design Awards, held in Sydney, the venue secured the National Award in the Public Design category and the Best of State Award in the Commercial Design category. It was also Highly Commended in the Environmentally Sustainable Design category.
“Congratulations once again to the designers joint venture architects Woods Bagot and NH Architecture, and to the developers Plenary Group, builders Brookfield Multiplex, the State Government of Victoria, the City of Melbourne and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust on such a successful joint venture that has produced this multi award-winning public building,’ says MCEC’s chief executive Leigh Harry.
The awards are now in their seventh year and aim to recognise and celebrate interior design excellence.
