AMERICAS – MCI Brazil has acquired Acqua Consultoria, a specialist in infrastructure, environment and energy sector events, and AB Eventos, a specialist in medical science events.

The company has also partnered with the Futura Networks’ Campus Party initiative, which promotes innovation and responsible participation in digital culture through educational forums.

“These latest acquisitions are part of our ambitious growth plan for Brazil and the wider Latin American region,” said Sebastien Tondeur, CEO of MCI Group. “MCI Brazil, our joint-venture with Grupo Alatur JTB, has recorded impressive growth in recent years – growing over 125 per cent in 2014 through organic growth and the acquisition of JZ Congressos – and looks set to double in size again in 2015, with acquisition events projected to generate more than BRL120m (US$46m) in turnover.”

The acquisitions also add a new MCI office in Porto Alegre, which joins existing offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

“The team from Acqua Consultoria brings unparalleled insights into three key Brazilian industries and their needs in terms of audience engagement and experience management, while AB Eventos’ in-depth industry focus will help drive our expansion into healthcare events,” said Juliano Lissoni, MD of MCI Brazil.

Through the partnership with Futura Networks, MCI will now be responsible for the organisation of all Campus Party events, the country’s leading event for developers of all ages, starting with Campus Recife in July. The aim of the partnership is to grow Campus Party throughout Brazil and bring Campus Party to countries not yet explored by Futura Networks.

“The Campus Party partnership represents our focus on expansion in Brazil and worldwide, as well as our commitment to continually diversifying our business and reaching new and growing audiences,” said Lissoni.
