Meetings and incentives surge at Sandals Resorts

Sandals Resorts is celebrating a threefold increase in meetings and incentive business.

Known worldwide for its romantic resorts and wedding and honeymoon offering, Sandals’ UK based Events team have showcased the benefits of hosting a meeting or incentive trip at the world leading resorts.

“Increasing Sandals’ presence at trade shows has been key to tripling the company’s incentive business in 2015,” said Paul Tidy, Groups & Events Manager South. “Attending Key Trade Shows such as IMEX, The Meetings Show, ITBM World and the Conference and Hospitality Show enable us to develop strong relationships with agencies across the UK and Europe.”

In addition to attending various trade shows and hosted buyer events, Sandals’ Events team organised its own showcase for Northern agents in Liverpool in September. The event was held on-board Lady Sandals, the personal yacht of Sandals Resorts International’s Chairman, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart. Following the success of Liverpool’s event, the team plan to host further functions on board the 138ft yacht towards the end of 2015. In 2016, the team will attend ITBM World in Barcelona and will also be exhibiting at The Meetings Show, the Conference and Hospitality Show and IMEX Frankfurt in early 2016.

This year, Sandals’ Events team has increased the number of familiarisation trips out to the Caribbean, hosting one at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa and the other at Sandals Regency La Toc Golf Resort & Spa in Saint Lucia. They also plan to host three further trips to the Bahamas, Jamaica and a multi-centre trip to Grenada and Antigua in 2016.

“Familiarisation trips have played an important role in increasing our incentive business this year, as they allow agents to experience for themselves why Sandals Resorts is a great choice for their clients,” says Graeme Saunders, Groups and Events Manager North.
