Melbourne will host the ACI Airport Experience Summit in 2027, following a bid led by the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) with Melbourne Airport, the Victorian State Government and Tourism Australia.
MCB expects the summit to attract more than 800 delegates to Victoria and generate an estimated A$5 million for the state’s visitor economy.
Run annually by Airports Council International, the summit focuses on customer and employee experience in airports. It brings together airport executives, customer experience leaders, technology providers and industry partners to discuss trends across technology, operations and airport design.
Melbourne Airport is Australia’s busiest 24-hour airport and is delivering an expansion programme that includes a new runway, an expanded international terminal and new ground transport facilities.
Minister for Major Events Anthony Carbines said: “Melbourne is an ideal host for the ACI Airport Experience Summit, with a globally connected airport, a strong focus on customer experience and significant investment in future infrastructure.”
MCB chief executive Julia Swanson said the event would reach international aviation leaders: “It’s a valuable opportunity to strengthen our international profile while creating lasting economic and industry impact for the state, bringing hundreds of international travellers to our hotels, event venues and restaurants.”
