WORLD – Meliá Hotels International has announced its growth into Latin America with an agreement to open five Innside by Meliá hotels in Chile together with the Private Investment Fund led by Grupo Armas.
The agreement involves the construction of five hotels by Grupo Armas, which will be managed by Meliá Hotels International. As part of the agreement, the companies also signed the management contract for the first of the five hotels to be developed in Santiago de Chile in the next five years.
The Innside Santiago, located in the heart of the Providencia district, the city’s financial and commercial centre, will open in 2014. The hotel will offer 120 rooms, restaurant, bar and gym, as well as 250sqm of meeting and event space.
The Innside brand has 15 hotels open or scheduled in Germany, three in Madrid, as well as one in Manchester, Copenhagen, and Malaysia. Santiago de Chile will become Meliá’s first hotel on the American continent.
“Our company is excited about the prospect of operating in Chile, in particular with Innside by Meliá, a brand that is proving to be a revelation in the city hotel industry, and also about the prospect of working with Grupo Armas, a perfect partner for us and one that offers the best guarantees of an ambitious project, which will change the face of the urban hotel industry in Chile,” said Vice-Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, Gabriel Escarrer.
Meliá Hotels International says it has signed up 14 new hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America already in 2013.
