EUROPE – Switzerland’s Montreux-Vevey Tourism Director, Christoph Sturny, has awarded the winner, Jérôme Renevey, of the tourism body’s ‘The Secret Places of Montreux Riviera’ social media campaign.
Launched on 5 July on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter simultaneously, the photo competition ended on 31 August, generating an unprecedented level of participation: more than 1,000 photos were received, with 8,954 likes and 1,516 shares on Facebook.
The social media campaign attracted a participation level of 59.5 per cent, compared to the average rate of a campaign like this of 0.61 per cent according to a study led by Socialbakers for a page counting 10,000 to 99,999 fans.
The prizes were presented to the press by Laurent Wehrli, who is a jury member and the Mayor of Montreux as well as President of the Grand Council, along with Sturny and Kristina Kalz, the Social and Digital Media Manager who launched the project.
Such an initiative has two objectives: first, to expand the social media fan community by encouraging interaction via the various platforms offered through Montreux Riviera. This objective was fully realised, with the Facebook page winning 4,115 fans in just two months, helping to reach the current 20,000 fans. Second, there is the impact generated on social networks. These photographs offer the advantage of presenting a broad picture of the destination thanks to content produced by a wide range of contributors including the locals.
