With a 5,000 sqm extension, the Estrel Congress Center Berlin is setting new standards for events. The new Auditorium opened on 26 August after two years of construction and offers tiered-seating for 800 guests, a 48sqm LED screen and specially designed acoustic walls. The new building is home to an additional 10 event rooms for up to 240 people, as well as food and beverage service areas. Spanning two floors connected by escalators and open foyers, the extension houses contemporary artwork by Felix Kiessling, Cajsa von Zeipel, Tomas Saraceno and Jeppe Hein. The new building’s technical specification includes a fibre optic network for broadband Internet, streaming encoders for hybrid events and remote cameras. All rooms can be connected via video and networked with one another. The opening of the Auditorium now brings the ECC’s total offer up to 30,000sqm of event space. Up to 15,000 guests can be accommodated and there is direct connection to the four-star plus Estrel Hotel with its 1,125 rooms and a show theatre. The Estrel Berlin is independent of any chain or franchise and privately owned by the entrepreneur Ekkehard Streletzki.
