ASIA – CMW has previously reported on the many heroic acts of convention centres, from sheltering refugees in New Orleans and during other flooding incidents around the world, including Tacloban City in the Philippines.
But maybe our world’s convention centres are not the safest places after all. Protesters in Kiev recently smashed their way in to the city’s international convention centre and now a report reaches us from The South China Morning Post which noted Hong Kong’s Convention Centre being demolished (not for real admittedly) in a nightmarish scenario in the new Transformers 4 film trailer.
Director Michael Bay and over 100 crew spent 10 days shooting scenes for the new movie in Hong Kong last October.
Convention centres as last places of refuge clearly offer more than meets the eye.
The last Transformers movie, Dark of the Moon, grossed US$165m in China alone.
