USA – Meeting Professionals International (MPI) announced three initiatives, 24 January, focused on connecting the global meetings industry to MPI’s content and tools, anywhere, anytime.

A new service for non-member planners called MPIWeb Connect enables planners to connect to education, tools, careers and a professional network.

“We are making it easy for meeting professionals everywhere to connect to the information and education necessary to make them successful in a recovering and changed industry,” said President and CEO of MPI, Bruce MacMillan.

“Business performance expectations on meetings and events are now extraordinary and we want to give meeting professionals everywhere a free opportunity to connect to key content to keep the recovery thriving and to connect with each other,” he added.

Planners interested in the MPIWeb Connect service are required to provide their professional profile at mpiweb.org to become an MPIWeb Connect user. Participants get online access to new articles, whitepapers and research not available to general website visitors. Additionally, participants will have access to MPIWeb Groups that traditionally only members accessed.

MPI also announced the launch of its iPhone app and new mobile website. The MPI iPhone app is free and content access is available only to members and MPIWeb Connect participants. It is available through the Apple app store. BlackBerry and Android compatible apps are scheduled for release in late February 2011.

The MPI Mobile Web tool, found at m.mpiweb.org, offers information in a mobile format and is designed for those pros on the go who want to connect to trending topics, research, event details and the MPI community.
