The chairman of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Hon. Dato’ Dr Noor Zari Hamat has announced the appointment of Noor Ahmad Hamid (pictured) as the convention bureau’s new chief operating officer. “I am pleased to welcome Noor Ahmad as our new COO. With his vast experience, knowledge, and passion for the business events industry, we firmly believe that he will be able to steer MyCEB as one of the best models of convention bureaux in the world. His appointment will be timely to strengthen the recently launched Malaysia’s Business Events Strategic Marketing Plan 2021-2030 and also other initiatives to rebuild the business events industry now and post-pandemic,” said Dato’ Dr Noor Zari Hamat. Noor Ahmad will be responsible for enhancing the bureau’s strategic direction, community collaboration and operational processes. Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, the CEO of MyCEB stated the new role of chief operating officer reflected a commitment to significantly grow and improve the bureau’s endeavours. “Since he joined us, Noor Ahmad has demonstrated all the qualities necessary to assume leadership and I am delighted to acknowledge his contribution to our business in this manner.” With more than 35 years’ experience, Noor Ahmad is a highly respected member of the business events and tourism industry globally. He first started his career in Tourism Malaysia in the early 1980s, before moving to the corporate sector and the association community. Prior to MyCEB, he was the regional director Asia Pacific for the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), where he served for more than 11 years. During his tenure with ICCA, he turned the Asia Pacific regional office into a Global Research Centre, initiated an annual AP Summit and helped grow the Asia Pacific Chapter as the largest in ICCA’s global membership. “I am humbled by this appointment and would like to thank MyCEB’s chairman and Board of Directors for their trust.
