Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) has released its latest guide to New Zealand for event planners. The new-look 29th edition, was launched at MEETINGS 2021 and 2,500 copies have been distributed to business event organisers across Australia and New Zealand. BEIA chief executive Lisa Hopkins said it was fitting the new edition features the koru on its front cover – a symbol of new beginnings, growth, strength and peace. “Not only are we a beautiful country to host an event, but also we are a safe destination to visit. We are a nation which responds to unprecedented times through collaboration and partnership, keeping whānau (family) and manuhiri (guests) firmly at the heart of all we do,” Hopkins said, adding that the new edition of the Event Planners’ Guide placed an emphasis on New Zealand’s regions. “Either individually or as part of a dual destination programme, New Zealand’s regions are a fascinating mix of the cosmopolitan, through to historical and untouched,” she added. This key reference tool for event planners is also available as a flipbook which can be viewed on the BEIA website. “We acknowledge a move to a more digital application seems obvious in the current climate, and we are constantly reviewing this. However, we have also listened to important feedback from customers who tell us this format is preferred. It is uniquely tangible in a digital world, making it easier physically to show New Zealand to their own clients and colleagues,” Hopkins said. At 180 pages, the new guide features a four-page section for every region of New Zealand, as well as key event planning resources and tools for event organisers including a supplier index, sorted by types of service. “Our singular focus is always to make the decision to host an event in New Zealand an easy one, and our new guide supports that objective,” Hopkins added. Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA), formerly known as Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ), is the official membership-based association of New Zealand’s business events sector with more than 460 members across a range of sectors. In 2019 in New Zealand, the business events sector was a NZ$1.45bn (US$1.01bn) industry, with over 3.6m attendees both domestic and international, and employing 22,000 people. BEIA also manages New Zealand’s only national annual trade show MEETINGS.
