Acting manager of operations for Australian Business Events Association (ABEA)’s launch phase, Domenic Genua (pictured) has now been confirmed as chief operating officer for the umbrella association. Genua most recently worked as the CEO of the Exhibition & Events Association of Australasia (EEAA), a position he held from December 2021. He was one of the driving forces that worked with ABEA’s project development group to set-up the new entity. Genua’s connection with the EEAA goes back to 2003 having been a director of the association for 13 years until 2016, with the last three years as the association’s president. He has also had exposure to events and trends internationally, having served on the Executive Committee as director of the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (London) for three years. He has lectured at several educational institutions on a variety of marketing and event management subjects originally on a full-time basis, and more recently as a guest lecturer. Annabelle Robb joins the ABEA team as project and services manager. An experienced event manager, she will lead the association’s event calendar and planning process. She frequently guest lectures to UTS Event Management students. Also supporting members and the ABEA team, will be Karina Hall, who will work on member services and administration. Having been instrumental in the launch of the Association, Hall will continue to provide members with the support they need. ABEA has also announced it will host the Leaders Forum at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) 19–21 February 2024 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. The Leaders Forum will take place on Monday 19 February, 2.15-5pm.
