ICC Belfast has appointed Suzanne Wylie OBE as chair of its board of directors.

She replaces Steve Daniels, who has completed his term. Daniels served on the board since 2018.

Wylie is currently chief executive of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She was chief executive of Belfast City Council from 2014 to 2022.

During her time at the council, the Waterfront Hall’s riverside extension was completed. ICC Belfast was also officially launched.

“The Board is delighted to welcome Suzanne Wylie as our new Chair,” said Rob McConnell, chief executive of ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall. “Suzanne brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of business across Northern Ireland. She is a highly respected leader, well connected across the public and private sectors, and has a strong grasp of the tourism and cultural landscape here. Suzanne has played a pivotal role in connecting Belfast to both national and international markets and has extensive experience in civic leadership.”

Wylie will lead the board in delivering a new five-year business plan. The plan aims to generate £90.5m in economic impact for Northern Ireland.

“I am truly honoured to be appointed Chair of ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall – three iconic venues that play such a vital role in driving economic growth and cultural vibrancy across the region,” said Wylie. “I look forward to working alongside my fellow Board members and the management team to deliver on our new strategy and realise even greater success for these remarkable venues.”
