USA – Three years after breaking ground, the Wilmington Convention Centre is set to open in North Carolina.
The official opening is scheduled for January 13 2011. The new centre will provide event planners with room for 2,000 people within a 107,000sqm space.
According to the Wilmington/Cape Fear Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau, the venue “already has 75 events on the books and will generate around US$1.5m per year in city and county taxes”.
It is also chasing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification and has included water-saving devices, a green cleaning maintenance and recycling programme.
