Johannesburg has added a major venue to its events landscape. The Dome, in Nasrec, opened in January 2025. The venue was developed by Live Nation in partnership with Stadium Management South Africa and Gearhouse South Africa.
It is the largest dedicated live entertainment space in the country, with a capacity of over 10,500 attendees. Strategically located adjacent to the iconic FNB Stadium, The Dome spans over 6,000sqm and is designed to host concerts, conferences, exhibitions, banquets and product launches.
Its infrastructure aims to be versatile enough to fill a critical gap in South Africa’s live entertainment scene – to provide a space that can support talent and businesses across the continent. The venue is reported to have 16,000sqm of exhibition space.
The venue’s inaugural event featured Nigerian Afrobeats artist Tems, who performed on 20 March 2025. The Dome reports a commitment to showcasing a range of genres, including Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dance, Pop, Hip-Hop and R&B.
Beyond entertainment, The Dome is poised to become a significant player in the business events industry. Its modern facilities and substantial capacity make it a location suited to large-scale corporate gatherings, industry conferences and trade exhibitions.
