Osaka convention bureau releases new guidelines for event organisers

Japan’s second largest metropolis, Osaka, has been preparing to safely reopen the business events industry and local economy amid the Covid-19 pandemic, with the Osaka Convention and Tourism Board (OCTB) releasing new ‘Guidelines for MICE Event Organisers for Infectious Disease Control’ on 3 June 2020.

The guidelines were formulated under guidance from infectious disease experts and stress the underlying message that the MICE industry is key to rebuilding economies. It is a position fervently backed by Osaka’s government leaders.

OCTB President Hiroshi Mizohata encouraged business event organisers to use these guidelines to ensure the peace of mind of all event attendees. “We sincerely hope for the re-opening of MICE events so that they may once again contribute to economic development.”

The guidelines are available here in full and cover the following main areas:

(1) Items to Implement Pre-Event

(2) Items to Implement During the Event

(3) Support for MICE Event Organisers from the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau.
