Pacifico Yokohama is Japan’s top MICE tourism facility, says JNTO stats

Pacifico Yokohama has been ranked as the top MICE tourism facility in Japan for the year 2016, according to statistics published by the Japan National Tourism Association (JNTO).

The facility was number one for number of conferences held, number of attendees, and number of overseas attendees.

The facility featured almost twice as many attendees and participants as the second place finishers Osaka Prefecture International Convention Centre and Kyoto International Conference Centre.

JNTO publishes its statistics regarding international conferences held in Japan every year. The report comprises a summary and analysis of international conferences held in the country, data about each convention, and statistics on world conventions published by the Union of International Associations (UIA).

During 2016, Pacifico Yokohama played host to the 26thGoldschmidt Conference in June, the 31stInternational Congress of Psychology in July, and the 16thWorld Congress on Pain in September.

Pacifico Yokohama has plans for a new facility adjacent to the existing building named the Yokohama Minato Mirai Internation Convention Centre, or Pacifico Yokohama North. It is expected to open in spring 2020.
