The Event and Conference Division of Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) has clinched another major international event for the Palacongressi di Rimini, having secured the international scientific association’s IHSS conference for 2024. The association will gather 400 scientist delegates at Palacongressi di Rimini 26-30 August 2024. Since 1981, IHSS has been a melting pot for scientists working in the field of humic substances, involved in many processes in soils and natural waters. Founded in Denver, IHSS has nearly 900 associated scientist members. The IHSS conference is held every two years, previous editions taking place in Varna (Bulgaria), Kanazawa (Japan), Ioannina (Greece), Hangzhou (China), Tenerife (Spain), Moscow (Russia) and Karlsruhe (Germany). The 2021 edition was virtual and took place in the United States. The conference usually takes place over five days and, prior to Rimini, the only Italian city to host it was Bari, 30 years ago. The positive outcome of the 2024 bid followed a site inspection by the Local Organising Committee and a challenge from the city of Brno (Czech Republic). IHSS is part of the Palacongressi’s strategy of attracting international events to Rimini and there are 12 confirmed major events scheduled for the destination from 2022 to 2025. The IEG team that developed and presented the IHSS bid worked in synergy with Professor Teodoro Miano of the University of Bari, who was also involved in the previous congress held in Italy, and with Professor Claudio Ciavatta of the University of Bologna and Professor Claudio Zaccone of the University of Verona. Other events scheduled in Rimini for 2022 include WWEA, an international association that embraces the wind energy industry with over 600 members in about 100 countries; EAERE, an international scientific association that operates in the environmental economy; ICCC, Academic Conference on Inorganic Chemistry; EAS, a European company linked to the development of marine and freshwater aquaculture, and FIM, the World Federation of Motorcycling.
