The 15th annual networking conferences for international education professionals, ICEF Australia and New Zealand conference, will be held in Perth, Western Australia in 2023. The event connects education providers with international education agents from across the globe. Business Events Perth announced the bid win, 17 June, saying the conference was set to attract upward of 300 delegates to Western Australia over two days and would generate upwards of $935,000 (US$653,653) for the Western Australian economy. Business Events Perth’s partnering with Study Perth and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation meant the bid garnered support from over 16 education and student affairs organisations nationally. The support of 26 Western Australia education providers who attended this years ICEF Australia and New Zealand conference in Adelaide also contributed to the favourable decision for Perth, the CVB noted. Western Australia’s proximity to the Asia Pacific region, its innovative and quality educational reputation, and high-quality student accommodation offerings were also key in factors in the win. Minister for international education, Hon David Templeman MLA said the bid win directly reflected the State’s leading environment for international education. “With our world-class universities, strong economy, wealth of job opportunities and desirable lifestyle, Western Australia is a study destination like no other,” he said. Business Events Perth CEO Gareth Martin said the win was a step in the right direction for the recovery of the business event industry and also an important strategic sector for Western Australia. “The ICEF ANZA 2023 conference is the perfect platform to showcase the strength of our State’s international education sector and hands-on student services, on the global stage.” “Not only will this trade conference support the business event industry in Perth, it will also help to diversify the State’s economy through the ongoing benefits of hosting quality student recruitment agencies from around the world attracting future students to Western Australia.” Photo: Copyright Western Australia Tourism
