Postponed Tokyo Olympics to keep venues and schedules from 2020 in 2021

Organisers of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, now pushed forward into 2021, have announced that all venues and competition schedules for the postponed event will be unchanged, aside from being pushed back a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Tokyo Olympics will feature a record 33 sports and 339 events, and all the 42 planned venues are secured for 2021, including the Athletes Village and the Main Press Center.

President of the organising committee, Yoshiro Mori confirmed the schedule in his presentation to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session on 17 July.

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 23 July, 2021, while the closing ceremony is slated for 8 August, 2021.

The IOC is still keen to hold the event with spectators and the organising committee said tickets purchased for 2020 will be valid for next year. Reimbursement will be provided upon request.
