Radisson leads Africa in hotel openings, expanding into DRC and Cameroon

The group opened 100 hotels in 30+ African countries. It is now entering the Democratic Republic of Congo and expanding in Cameroon with three major properties launching by 2027. Recent openings include Guinea and Mauritius. Radisson targets 30 hotels in Morocco and 25 in South Africa by 2030.

Radisson Hotel Group opened more hotels in Africa than any other company last year, according to the 2024 “From Pipeline to Reality” report by W Hospitality Group. The group announced two new signings in Q1 2025 – its debut in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and a new property in Yaoundé, Cameroon. These add to the company’s existing portfolio of 100 hotels in over 30 African countries.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Kinshasa will open in late 2026 in the Gombe district. It will include 110 rooms, three dining venues, wellness facilities and event spaces. Radisson Hotel Lubumbashi is set to open in mid-2027, offering 97 rooms, a rooftop grill and three meeting rooms near Kipopo Lake.

In Cameroon, Radisson Blu Hotel & Apartments, Yaoundé will open by the end of 2026. Located in the capital’s business district, the 150-room property will feature three restaurants, 1,350sqm of meeting space and a rooftop pool.

The group also celebrated recent openings in Guinea and Mauritius. Radisson Blu Hotel, Conakry opened just three months after signing. Crystals Beach Resort Belle Mare, part of Radisson Individuals, launched in Mauritius.

“Over the last 15 months, we achieved remarkable growth across Africa,” said Elie Younes, EVP & global chief development officer. “We expanded into new markets like Tanzania, Conakry and the Democratic Republic of Congo.”

Radisson is targeting 30 hotels in Morocco and 25 in South Africa by 2030. It continues to grow in Nigeria and across West Africa. “We remain committed to expanding our footprint while delivering world-class hospitality experiences across Africa,” said Younes.
