Hosted Buyer registration is now open for IBTM World 2021, a global event for the meetings and events industry, which will be held for the first time in a hybrid format. The IBTM World in-person event returns at Fira, Barcelona, 30 November-2 December 2021. The physical show, last held in 2019, will be followed by IBTM World Virtual, 7-9 December 2021. This year’s theme of ‘New Business, New Tech, New World’, reflects IBTM’s aim to enable meetings and events professionals to re-build and re-connect post-pandemic. IBTM World will include one-to-one business meetings between international buyers and suppliers, networking opportunities and educational content intended to provide attendees with the tools they need to develop within the industry. The Knowledge Programme will feature speakers from the meetings and events industry and beyond, exploring topics such as safety, sustainability, diversity and upskilling. There will be a separate buyer-led association and elite corporate programme and more details on this are promised by the organiser. David Thompson (pictured), event director, said: “IBTM World is a major event in our industry’s calendar, and one that unites us under one roof for three-days of networking, learning and valuable business opportunities. After 18 long months without an event of this stature, we invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to make genuine connections and get the knowledge and tools to thrive in 2022 and beyond.” RX, the organisers of IBTM World, have worked with industry peers to create a safe working standard called ‘All Secure’ for holding events in a Covid-19 world.
